Membership Requirements

York College of Pennsylvania SIFE members can be either active or inactive for any given semester. Active members receive certain benefits over inactive members (see Membership Benefits). Active/ Inactive status is determined using the following criteria:

-Hours: Hours are broken down into two categories, active and passive. Active hours are hours that accomplish the mission of SIFE, such as teaching others. Passive hours are hours that set-up active hours, such as general meetings and informational project meetings. To be considered active strive for 6-8 active hours and 14-18 passive hours.

-Meetings: Meeting attendance is vital to the success of SIFE. At general meeting we will discuss ways to improve SIFE, we will give general updates and we will have guest speakers to show us how SIFE benefits us for our future careers. To be considered active strive to not miss more than 3 meetings.

-Project Involvement: Without projects, there is no SIFE. We strive to make a difference in the lives of others and we accomplish that through our many projects. To be considered active strive to work on 2 projects per semester.

The E-board has created a weighting system that averages out the above, so it is possible to be active if you miss on of the above suggestions, if, of course, you compensate in other areas. If you have 25 total hours and don't miss more than 3 meetings, you are automatically considered active.
