What is Transitions?

In a partnership with Easter Seals, York SIFE has developed an 8-week program that will be implemented this Fall. This program is designed to improve their quality of life and standard of living by landing a job in the community. Working with Easter Seals we identified a specific group of high functioning autistic adults that have the ability to positively impact an organization, if given the proper social skills. Transitions focuses on teaching the missing social skills and activities of daily living, such as proper hygiene and interviewing skills. This year, the program will alternate lessons with job experiences and career development classes where SIFE will help the autisitc adults apply the skills they just learned. Once the students learn and practice these skills, they are entered into a job placement program.
